Hi family and new besties,
I’m writing this blog as an avenue for family and friends to walk along side of me during my engagement and my new life as a wife. I initially created “The Whimsical Pineapple” as a lifestyle blog because friends were asking me to review all of my beauty products; but, for now, this will be my platform to talk all things BLUSH and GOLD. No, I haven’t picked a venue but I do have the color scheme… we can thank Pinterest for that.
• Here’s the Story •
Greg and I were in Charleston for a friend’s wedding over Labor Day weekend. It was a weekend full of parties, fun, and laughter. But before we get to the destination, allow me to share some of the backstory.

Exploring King Street
Greg and I don’t have to get ready for the wedding until 2 pm so we eat breakfast in the hotel and head to King Street to window shop and site see. I have an ulterior motive.. Jeni’s ice cream and ALL the pineapple goodness that my little heart desires.
I’m restraining myself and just peering through all the frosted windows but as I pass Moon and Lola..I can’t help myself – the GOLDEN PINEAPPLE book ends catch my eye. Greg – being the good man he is, says, “let’s pop in!” We soak in all of the pineapple goodness but I have my eye on the prettiest charm bracelet. He encourages me to get one and we pick out some pretty charms. (We picked out South Carolina, pearl, pineapple, and monogram charms.) And off to the Wedding we go.

THIS is THE DAY!!!
Today, I wake up gloomy to be heading back to reality. But, Greg promised me a visit to the Pineapple fountain before we leave Charleston so I have a huge smile on my face. MORE PINAPPLE goodness – I rush to put mascara on my puffy eyes (wedding shenanigans got me like 😳) and blush on my cheeks. We drive to the Charleston battery. As we park, the little brother calls me. Davis NEVER calls me so I answer and he’s just chatting about Fraternity Life – he’s pledging AGR – where I was sweetheart.
As we’re talking, I notice Greg going back and forth to the car. First, to get some gum and now he’s grabbing pennies? The phone is distracting so I don’t have time to get suspicious but I do glance at his pant pockets.. just in case I’m missing something major here. I’m in a great mood as I hang up because Davis just filled me in on his life and because.. duh.. I’m now standing in front of the pineapple fountain. Greg says, “let’s each make a wish.” He throws his penny first and then turns me around to make my wish– as I’m throwing (who knows if the penny made it into the fountain), I turn around to him on his knee!! I can NOT believe it – I keep asking “is this real, is this really happening, are you serious?” After abundant reassurance, I do believe him and realize I had just wished to be married to the man – it’s coming true! I’m so excited and nervous that I get down on my knees with him.
Y’all, I don’t even remember what he said. It was the best day of my life and photographers were there, capturing it all!*
After a few pictures, we walk to the pier and sit on a swing to take in the moment. I want it to last forever – I don’t want to post it on social media, I don’t want to tell anyone, I just want to sit close to Greg and soak it up.
All the pineapple goodness,
*My man hired the photographers from the wedding the night before. Rachel Red Photography – they are the cutest team! Check out their beautiful work here. Hire them and you won’t be disappointed.
