On the Third Day of Blogmas…

With the many Holiday parties around the corner, don’t forget about your darling Hostess. After all, she worked relentlessly to debut a fun-filled party for even the ever so critical party goer. Why don’t you be a sweet saving grace and bring an appetizer or dessert? And if you are really feeling merry, a small gift will go a long way. Here’s a list of my top five hostess gifts as well as one recipe for an appetizer that will impress the guests at any party – even your great Aunt Deloris.

Tea Time at the Masters – Cheese Ring

1 cup finely chopped pecans
3/4 cup mayonnaise*
1/2 teaspoon hot sauce
1 garlic clove, minced
2 (8-oz.) blocks sharp Cheddar cheese, finely grated*
1/2 cup strawberry preserves
Assorted crackers
*I use 1/2 cup of mayo and 1/4 cup of Dijon mustard

1. Preheat oven to 350° {I used the toaster oven}. Bake pecans in a single layer in a shallow pan 8 to 10 minutes or until toasted and fragrant, stirring halfway through. Cool 15 minutes.

2. Stir together mayonnaise {or mayo mixture*} and next 2 ingredients. Stir in pecans and cheese.

3. Spoon mixture into a plastic wrap-lined 4-cup ring mold with a 2 1/2-inch center. Cover and chill 2 hours {I didn’t have a ring mold}.

4. Unmold cheese ring onto a serving platter. Discard plastic wrap. Fill center of ring with preserves.

5. Serve with crackers {I used Harris Teeter’s cracked pepper water crackers}. Garnish, if desired.

All the goodness of Holiday hosting,

**Thank you, My, for the recipe of a classic Master’s favorite.

  2. Great post, I love that bread warmer, I have never seen such a thing in Australia, but it’s a wonderful idea. A lovely idea to give some thought to the hostess too, so easily forgotten at this busy time of year.

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words. The bread warmer is a brilliant invention. Who would’ve thought? But it makes sense considering how quickly your bread cools in a basket passed around the table. I hope you have the most fabulous week. xx
