I wanted to wake up on Saturday morning { sun shining, birds chirping, His Radio playing } & work on a little DIY project in my bright & sunny kitchen. After searching for a DIY project on Pinterest, I found this bath fizzy recipe from The Makeup Dummy. I used her recipe as a base & made my own concoction. I loved that she incorporated Epsom Salt – it looked like c o n f e t t i. Click here for her recipe { she even posted a printable version }.
Whimsical’s Ingredients { I basically doubled The Makeup Dummy‘s }
1/4 c. Epsom Salt
1 c. baking soda
1/2 c. cornstarch
1/2 c. citric acid { I used 1/4 c. Cream of Tartar }
2 tbsp coconut oil
1/4 c. water & 2 tbsp witch hazel mixed in a spray bottle
food coloring
rose water { essential oils }
bath molds { jello molds will work just fine }
Step 1 – Combine Dry Ingredients with a Wooden Spoon
mix baking soda, cornstarch, citric acid { Cream of Tartar }
Step 2 – Mix Food Coloring & Epsom Salts
after mixing, fill mold with a thin layer of colored salts
Step 4 – Melt Coconut Oil & Mix Rose Water { Essential Oils }
melt coconut oil in the microwave, stir in rose water or essential oils
Step 5 – Add Liquid Ingredients to Dry Mix
add liquid ingredients to dry ingredients & sprinkle in a spoonful of colored Epsom salts
Step 6 – Spritz Mix & Whisk
mist mix with witch hazel & water, whisk away all lumps
Step 7 – Pour Mix into Mold
spoon mix { layer by layer } into mold & compact ingredients before adding another layer of the mix { spritz concoction, if necessary }
Step 8 – Allow Fizzy to Set
after filling all molds, allow mixture to set in the mold for 24 hours. when completely set, gently knock mold on the counter to release the fizzy
They turned out beautifully. Next time, I will use essential oils & add one more tablespoon of coconut oil. Many thanks to the The Makeup Dummy for her fabulous recipe. I can’t wait to follow more of her wonderful DIYs.
All the goodness in adding pretty fizzies to your bath water,
